<font size="-1" face="Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif">After graduating from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics, Dave moved to Dallas, Texas, where he received his Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1972. He began working for New Life in Knoxville, Tennessee where, after six years, he and some other Dallas Seminary grads began an adult evangelism ministry called Search. In 1983, Dave moved back to Michigan, his birthplace and home, where he started Relational Concepts, a discipleship ministry, both in Grand Rapids and Eastern Europe. At this time, he also completed his study and received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Bible from Dallas Theological Seminary. Since 1983, he and his wife Ellen have continued to travel twice a year to Poland, Czech Republic, and Romania, teaching the Bible and emphasizing discipleship. They also lead groups to Israel, a trip which emphasizes learning the layout and significance of the land of Israel as it relates to the Bible. In 1995 Dave began the Relational Concepts' School of Discipleship to give men and women at home and in the marketplace a Bible college/seminary training in the Bible in a format that would encourage them to disciple and reproduce it with others.</font>

<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Bill and Barbara Mouser founded ICGS in 1991. Both are graduates of Dallas Theological Seminary. They have four daughters and reside near Dallas, Texas. They are the authors of the Five Aspects of Man and Woman, a biblical theology of gender. They have lived in Austria where Bill was Pastor of the International Chapel of Vienna from 1983 to 1987, returning to found I.C.G.S.. The International Council for Gender Studies is formed of evangelical Christians in America and Europe who are committed to speaking the historic Christian faith to this generation. I.C.G.S. believes that non-biblical egalitarian tenets about the nature and relationship of men and women are not only corrosive to society at large, but also pose a threat to the spiritual vitality and integrity of the Church. Persuaded that God has spoken through the Prophets and Apostles in the Bible concerning human sexuality, they have joined together to call Christians to reaffirm and to live anew the whole counsel of God as He has spoken concerning gender issues.<br />

Therefore, we focus on building the man (used in an inclusive sense - men and women) in the Word of God, character and life/ministry skills. He then is able to fulfill Ephesians 4:15-16. <i>"but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love."</i></font></span></p>

We have experienced through the years that one-to-one is the most effective means to help another gain understanding of and submit to the Word. This discipleship method is also one of the slowest, yet if produces the strongest thinkers and doers. One-to-one is also the simplest and most reproducible in terms of form and with others. You need only time, the Scriptures and someplace to meet. What a person learns may easily be taught to another.</font></span></p>

It is imperative, however, that individual believers be a part of a local body with the goal of worship and to build up the members for ministry to one another and outside the fellowship to the lost. The body will be as strong as its individual members and therefore our ministry is to strengthen the individuals, which strongly affects those they are involved in. The nations are won when communities of strong individuals take seriously Christ's command in Matthew 28:19-21.</font>

<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">The Rameys continued to work in Romania and Hungary until the Spring of 1997 when it was determined that a focus in Central Asia, Austria and the old Eastern Bloc Countries was more than could be accomplished. Steve continued to travel to Central Asia and also build a discipling ministry in Austria among Austrians.</font></p>
|
||||
<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">A decision was made in the Spring of 2001 to focus primarily on Austria and secondarily in Central Asia. The result has been a development of discipling and teaching in and around Vienna. Both Steve and Marie are involved in the work, with Marie teaching, mentoring and discipling young singles and married women.</font></p>

<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Steve and Marie have three grown children. The oldest is working in her field of Horticulture and the other two are at a local university. The Rameys are presently on a sabbatical in the States.</font></p>

<font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">The Rameys arrived in Vienna in 1977 and after several months of German language school began traveling and working in Romania with the Navigators. Their ministry was characterized by meeting covertly with men and women who carried major responsibilities in their churches. They would spend several days together going over Bible study, principles of discipleship ministry, leadership and also family and church issues. These men and women would in turn gather a group around them and pass on what they were learning. 1989 was a banner year! The tumbling of the Berlin wall was the beginning of the end for the dictatorial regimes of Eastern Europe.</font>

<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Freedom had come to the nations and with that a whole new era for the church. Along with a continuing work in Eastern Europe a discipling ministry to the lands of Central Asia was also begun in 1991. In 1992 <i>ResourceLinks</i> was incorporated to serve as the Ramey's mission organization. The mission statement is "Train the man, to build the church to change the nations." Practically speaking this means the primary focus of ministry takes place in a one-to-one ministry, or in small groups of two to 10.</font></p>

<p><font size="-1" face="Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular">Throughout the years we have found that one-to-one ministry allows for effective training and mentoring of an individual as they grow in the Word, life skills and character. He, or she, in turn is then equipped to train others. Our statement, "build the church, " should not be understood as building buildings.</font></p>
