Our Methodology

Direct Pro Active Approach methodology/proactive graphic_1.gif With our "pro active" approach, we place the participant in the very centre of the learning process. Whatever materials are used, they are chosen by the course participants. The materials, whether reading, listening, multimedia or correspondence, is used to extract real-life vocabulary, idioms, word partnerships, expressions, grammar and writing practice. This is done verbally in a very lively atmosphere where all participants have a chance to practise the new material.  

The Socratic Approach methodology/socratic approach graphic_1.gif Socrates was a brilliant philosopher who used a QUESTIONING technique to explain his ideas. We have adapted his approach in teaching English. We prefer to "explain" words, grammar, idioms and expressions by asking questions and letting the participants take part in the "discovery" of the meanings and usage of this wonderful Language. This means that the students TAKE PART in a learning experience we NEVER LECTURE!

The 50% Rule methodology/50 percent graphic_1.gif This is a natural result of our philosophy of teaching. We INVOLVE the participants and strive for the goal of making sure that the learners ACTUALLY SPEAK for at least half the time during the lesson. We learn by doing. We learn by practising. We learn by experiencing the language first-hand! Our motto is "Üben statt Lernen!" Practise, don't learn lists of words and hundreds of Grammar Rules!

Unsere Methoden

Direkte Pro Active Methode methodology/proactive graphic_1.gif Bei unserer proaktiven Methode stellen wir die KursteilnehmerInnen in den Mittelpunkt des Lernprozesses. Die TeilnehmerInnen entscheiden, welches Material im Kurs verwendet wird. Anhand dieses Materials (Lese- und Hörmaterial, multimediales Material, Material für schriftliche Übungen) werden authentisches Vokabular, Idiome, Wortverbindungen, Redewendungen, Grammatik und der schriftliche Ausdruck erarbeitet. In einer sehr lebendigen Atmosphäre können alle TeilnehmerInnen das neu Erlernte üben.

Die Sokratische Methode methodology/socratic approach graphic_1.gif Sokrates war ein hervorragender Philosoph, der seine Ideen anhand von FRAGEN erklärte. Wir haben diese Methode für den Englischunterricht adaptiert, d.h. wir "erklären" Wörter, Grammatik, Idiome und Redewendungen durch Fragen. Dadurch ermöglichen wir den TeilnehmerInnen eine aktive Rolle in der "Entdeckung" der Bedeutungen und der Verwendung dieser wunderbaren Sprache. Die TeilnehmerInnen MACHEN Lernerfahrungen - wir TRAGEN NICHT VOR!

Die 50%-Regel methodology/50 percent graphic_1.gif Diese Regel ergibt sich aus unserer Unterrichtsphilosophie. Wir INVOLVIEREN die TeilnehmerInnen und streben als Ziel an, dass sie mindestens die Hälfte der Zeit im Unterricht SELBST SPRECHEN. Wir lernen durch aktives Handeln ("learning by doing"). Wir lernen durch Üben. Wir lernen durch direkte Erfahrungen mit der Sprache! Unser Motto lautet "Üben statt Lernen!" Üben, nicht Wortlisten und hunderte Grammatikregeln auswendig lernen!
