Which would you rather? Sprinter or marathon runner?
Sprinters were more popular in school! Students didnt want to see the whole marathon, so a quick sprint was more popular!
The Christian life is, however, a marathon, not a sprint.
Hebrews tells us how to run the race. Hebrews 12:1-2
Why are we exhorted to run the race?
1. We have a great cloud of witnesses--men and women of faith who appear in previous chapter 11. They ran the race to receive the promises. Some seemed to not be triumphant--some suffered, died and appeared unvindicated.
2. While previous believers have run their race and shown us an example--we are not done yet!
We must lay aside every encumbrance and every sin. You never see a runner with dumbbells in his hand or a long, thick robe!
The author gives us Jesus as the best example of how to run. Though on earth, men did not recognize him, he was vindicated before God.
Paul looked to Jesus as in 1 Tim 6:13 Paul, tried before men like Niro, kept the faith by looking to Christ.
We are expected to be long-distance runners in faith. Look to Jesus and run!

Hebrews 10:22
Blessings of Christ as a high priest. OT detailed all the work of a high priest.
Under OT, it was just a covering for their sin, not a full payment. Now, we see the full payment made through Christ.
The high priests had to repeatedly do the work. Christ had to do it only ones.
Cross-ref: Heb. 10:1 - the opposite of whom was Christ who made a permanent sacrifice for a new covenant.
Access
Now we have access to Christ. Christ has opened the presence of God to us through His work.
Cleansing
We also have our whole being cleansed. Guilt accompanies every sin, but now we've been cleansed by Him.
Peter asked Jesus to wash all of him and Jesus said unless he would be cleansed he would have no part with Him. Being cleansed is like being sanitized. It's temporary for us when we sanitize our hands, for example! But the cleansing of Christ is forever.
Application: recognize our position in Christ.

24:42-51 be ready because it may be tonight

Passage:
Forming of diamonds requires some very specific requirements and optimized things to make what is known as the hardest natural mineral.
- Graphite, unless tainted
- 100 miles below earth, in diamond stabilization zone
- High pressure
- High temperature, 2000 degrees
- Make a diamond in two weeks synthetically
- Because of the flood, diamonds are at the surface for us to get to
- Evolutionists thing it takes very long to make…?
Want to talk about the perfect things to make a diamond and how it relates to us: how we are made by high pressure--make us or break us. Pressure makes us to a beautiful thing for the Lord.
James 1:2-4
